Look at: Toxicity Risk for Conventional Metal Polishes
“To make your brass and copper shiny as new, look no further than your pantry. Find something acidic like ketchup, Worchestershire sauce, or just plain vinegar. Use it to saturate the end of a clean sponge or cloth, and rub into the metal.
For really dirty metal, soak in some vinegar first.
When it comes to the family silver, a dab or two of old-fashioned white toothpaste does the trick. (I’ve used this on all my jewelry – WORKS WONDERS!)
Once the tarnish disappears from the brass, copper, or silver, wash the item with some liquid dish soap, rinse well, and shine with a dry, soft cloth.”
